You may have heard the name before or you’ve seen the store at the mall and wondered: who or what exactly is Kendra Scott?

And how does it compare to Blush and Bar?

We’ll answer those questions and more in this comparison guide, starting with:

What is Kendra Scott?

Designer Kendra Scott is the creator behind the jewelry brand with the same name.

Kendra Scott

She started designing jewelry in 2002 with a $500 introductory collection and has since grown an empire out of her Austin, Texas studio.

Fast-forward to today and Kendra Scott offers an interesting selection of products both online and in her stores.

Types of Products Kendra Scott Sells

When you visit her online store, you can browse through her jewelry -- which ranges from necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings -- and home decor.

Her jewelry is sold at two different levels - the main jewelry line and the upgraded fine jewelry collection.

Kendra Scott Fine Jewelry Collection

Kendra Scott also created different collections, including seasonal ones, and gift sets.

You can also purchase customizable jewelry and charms to go with both bracelets and necklaces.

As for her home decor pieces, she offers things like jewelry boxes, frames, candles, and jewelry cleaning pens.

How is Kendra Scott’s Quality?

After learning more about the brand, many people are curious to learn things like: is Kendra Scott good quality? And, are Kendra Scott necklaces real gold?

According to their website, Kendra Scott offers demi-fine jewelry, which lies between costume jewelry and high-end options.

They also claim that their jewelry is made from elevated metals and genuine stones.

Upon further investigation, you get a clearer picture of what that really means:

What is Kendra Scott Jewelry Made Of?

In their glossary of terms page, you’ll see that they use a few different types of metals depending on the line.

Their fashion jewelry is plated over brass, which means the base layer is brass and then it’s layered with other metals. By doing this, you eventually get a gold, silver, and rose gold metal appearance.

They also use what’s known as gold vermeil in addition to sterling silver.

The gold vermeil is actually a sterling silver base that’s then plated with 18k gold or 18k rose gold.

So instead of having a brass base like the fashion jewelry, it’s made of sterling silver.

And their sterling silver is just that.

When it comes to their fine jewelry line, their diamonds are conflict-free which means they are ethically mined and sold legally in the Fine Jewelry market, as their website mentions.

Their diamonds also go through the Kimberley Process which certifies them as ethically traded.

Some Drawbacks to Kendra Scott’s Jewelry

Kendra Scott’s jewelry line, even the lower-priced fashion one, may not be in everyone’s budget.

While her sale items can range as low as $35-$45 dollars -- marked down from $80-90, most of her signature items start a bit higher around the $70-$80 mark.

For the lower end of the budget, you get simplistic single-metal only necklaces around $40, but they’re plain and don’t offer any pops of color, gemstones, or unique features.

Earrings can run you around $60 to upwards of a few hundred dollars.

As for her high-end fine jewelry, prices are in the triple digits and can run anywhere from $148 for a necklace to $400 for a ring.

She also offers a mini heart yellow gold stud earring with diamonds, for example, that’s priced at $200 per stud (for a total of $400).

For most people, these prices are simply out of the budget unfortunately, and we can definitely understand that here at Blush & Bar (more on this next).

With these prices, you may be wondering if there’s any discounts with Kendra Scott.

Some people have even heard and asked, do you get 50% off at Kendra Scott for your birthday?

There are sporadic discounts available through Kendra Scott, including one for your birthday.

However, the stipulation is that you must use your birthday coupon in-store only and, when you do, you can enjoy 25% off one fine jewelry or home item, and 50% off all other items. The discount can only be applied to a single item in your order too.

Even with these discounts, Kendra Scott’s jewelry may still be out of the budget for most.

Fortunately, there’s a better option.

Blush and Bar Design Your Ring Stack

On top of that, all of our gems are conflict-free and ethically sourced. We work exclusively with suppliers who can guarantee they’re from ethical sources.

Our rings are also stamped 925 Sterling Silver, as opposed to Kendra Scott’s plated over brass base layer. We also double coat our rings in a thick layer of 18k Gold to make sure they last.

With a special anti-tarnish coating like this, you won’t experience any discoloration or green skin.

One thing to note with Kendra Scott’s 14k Gold or rhodium plated fashion jewelry is that the plating can fade over time, especially if you wear it all the time.

Washing your hands, exercising, cleaning, wearing the pieces in the shower, and swimming can also speed up how fast your jewelry changes colors.

We’re confident that our rings won’t tarnish but if you find it starting to happen, we’ll replace your ring free of charge.

All of our jewelry also comes with a 100-year warranty and we offer free returns/exchanges for any reason.

So if you’re unhappy with your purchase, you can return or replace it, no questions asked. Your orders are also covered by a 60-Day Product Guarantee that means if anything arrives damaged or different than you imagines, we’ll resend the order or offer a full refund.

We also offer free shipping on all US and Canadian orders via USPS, DHL, and FedEx, and a loyalty program that lets you earn points or store credits towards more fabulous jewelry.

If you’re ready to see what makes our jewelry stand out, or you’re curious about our affordable prices, check out our ring special now.

We know that you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how many unique pieces fit within your budget -- you don’t have to settle for plain-Jane jewelry ever again.

We get a lot of questions about ring size here at Blush and Bar.

Because we sell a lot of our rings online, our customers don’t get a chance to try a ring on before they buy it. That’s why we offer a ring size guide that can help you get the right fit.

Prepping for Measurement

Before you begin taking your measurements, pick the finger on which you want to wear your ring. The fingers on your dominant hand tend to be larger than those on your non-dominant hand, so keep that in mind when measuring for your ring size.

Ensure that your finger is at its normal size before taking a measurement. Cold weather can cause your fingers to shrink a bit, while heat or water retention caused by food, medications, or illness can cause finger swelling.

How Do I Measure My Finger for a Ring?

Our ring size guide includes two ring sizing methods: You can use string or a strip of paper to measure your finger, or you can measure using a ring that you already own.

How do I use String as a Ring Sizer?

Take a piece of string, ribbon, thread, or a thin strip of paper and wrap it around your finger, close to the knuckle.

With a pen, carefully mark the spot where the string overlaps with its end and either hold it up to a ruler that has millimeter measurements, or to the graphic below.

Use the chart to determine your ring size.
