My whole life I've always loved wearing delicate-looking pieces. It hasn't always been easy to find. Growing up in South Jersey, my friends gravitated to heavy, gaudy, looking pieces. Sure, we're both from Jersey, but I don't actually want to look like Snooki!
After getting married and my first job, I started exploring my interests more. My wedding band was too expensive to be worn everywhere. I looked at fashion jewelry like Forever 21 and Guess, and while they did have some nice, delicate styles, they were often fragile, and didn't feel like real, substantial jewelry.
A few weeks ago, I was at a baby shower for my best friend from college where I ran into our mutual friend. She always had great style, but her high-end finance job had let her take it to a completely new level. As much as I loved her delicate pearl Cartier studs and dainty Tiffany ring and necklace, I knew there was no way I could afford that on a teacher's salary.
...How can I get that look without paying a fortune?
It sounds silly to say it out loud, but wearing cute and dainty looking jewelry makes me feel a lot more feminine and girly. With a demanding job during the day and two riotous boys at home, I like to treat myself once in a while...
